Jeannie was Drawn to Natural Childbirth, Home Births, and Midwives from the start. How I got here… to birth work.

“From an early age, I knew that I was passionate about all things related to childbirth. When I was in my early 20s, I read an article in the newspaper about breastfeeding that sparked my interest. None of the women in my family had ever breastfed their babies before, so the idea fascinated me. However, it wasn’t until after I got married and became pregnant with my first child that I really started learning about the process of natural childbirth. With our first, my husband and I took Bradley Method classes and successfully had a natural home birth with a midwife. Following the birth, I left my job as a budget analyst to stay at home with our daughter, Jenessa and I started attending La Leche League meetings, which led to helping other women learn how to have natural births and breastfeed. That’s when I discovered my true passion:  helping women learn how to become mothers.”

Positive Impact of Childbirth Instructor and Doula on Families

“I love to learn, and each year, I take continuing education courses within the childbirth and parenting field. These experiences have given me an in-depth understanding of the various methods and procedures doctors and midwives use during labor. My hope is that my work as a childbirth educator and doula positively impacts the family dynamics of my students and clients.

When I’m not teaching childbirth classes, attending a home birth with a midwife, or leading a support group or event, you can usually find me sharing articles on Facebook, working in one of my many gardens or spending time with my husband Paul driving our 1972 convertible MG with the British Car Club, and finding new restaurants to visit. I love updating my house, painting and decorating. I love Cooking, Canning, quilting. Next, on my list is learning to knit.

If you friend me on Facebook, you will see some of the many animals who visit me in my yard, usually female animals with their babies. I’ve had a momma raccoon and her 5 babies, and momma fox,  Mr. Big raccoon, little white possum, bluebirds in 2 boxes raising babies, hummingbirds, Right now a doe and her fawn, who was born in my yard and she nurses it right in front of us, Breast is Best! Yes all this right in Cool Springs/Brentwood TN.

I can help families seeking home births with midwives as well as those parents-to-be planning a hospital or birthing center experience.  I am glad to serve as an instructor, coach, consultant and/or doula.”
